‘The Ministry of Food have announced that from October 1 liquid milk for use in tea, as well as tea, will be available for groups of industrial, business and clerical workers for consumption during working hours,’ said the Journal this week.
All current tea permits in use would be valid until September 27, after which suppliers would have to return them to the Food Offices which had issued them. Readers were advised that it was necessary to apply immediately for application forms for both the new tea and milk permits.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the Boundary House Sub-Committee of Derby Social Welfare Committee had authorised the chairman to decide which of the railings at the institution could safely be removed and sold as scrap metal for armament manufacture.
