WORKFORCE: Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust has terminated its contract with NHS Professionals and implemneted its own bank system.
A report to April’s board said the cost of the service provided by NHS Professionals was about £6m a year. Since April 1 between 800 and 1,000 shift requests have been supplied from a pool of over 800 registered and unregistered temporary nursing staff.
The report said: “Whilst it is too early to provide definitive performance data in relation to the new service, the fill rates being achieved during the first week of operation are in excess of the levels achieved by NHS Professionals.
“In addition, the opportunities for further savings in relation to agency spend, and how to achieve them, are clearer as a result of the new service.”
