FINANCE: The east London acute trust made a total of £34.7m savings in 2010-11, £4.5m worse than plan.

The large trust, set to have a turnover of more than £1bn if its bid to swallow Whipps Cross and Newham university hospital trusts goes ahead, had a CIP target of eight per cent for the year, and is aiming for the same percentage this year.

Its month 12 savings of £4.3m were £800,000 below plan.
