PERFORMANCE: Increased emergency demand has had an impact on many performance measures at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Foundation Trust – but it met the four hour accident and emergency standard in February for the first time since September, board papers state.

However, one in 20 people who were admitted through A&E had to wait more than 10 hours. The trust also failed to meet the 18 week referral to treatment target for the month.

The trust also had its highest ever number of complaints in the month – 76 - with appointment delays and cancellation being a key theme. A report to the March board also noted that recent reports in the media might have contributed to the number of complaints.
