FINANCE: NHS Bath and North East Somerset is heading for an overspend of £5.2m on its commissioned services at year end - due mainly to more activity in the acute sector.

The PCT was £2.4m overspent on commissioned services at the end of September, with overspends against budget at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, and with private providers, where the overspend was £0.4m.

“This area of spend represents the most significant single area of over-performance in acute commissioning with a forecast overspend of £2.4m,” the board heard.
