STRUCTURE: Blackpool clinical commissioning group was among the first wave of new organisations to be authorised by the NHS Commissioning Board.

The CCG, was authorised with four conditions, meaning – among other things – that some of its decisions will require sign-off or approval by the NHSCB.

The conditions were placed on its registration because it had not yet satisfied requirements to:

-         Have a nurse and secondary care doctor on its governing body;

-         Have a clear and credible integrated plan, which includes an operating plan for 2012-13, draft commissioning intentions for 2013-14 and a high-level strategic plan until 2014-15;

-         Establish appropriate systems for safeguarding; and

-        demonstrate how its proposed staff resource and any contracted commissioning support will provide capacity and capability to deliver its full range of responsibilities.
