An Essex trust is looking forward to welcoming a new intake of Filipino nurses, and sees no risk in the recruitment because they’re “more highly trained” than their English counterparts.

The somewhat blunt assertion appeared in a paper discussed at Basildon and Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group’s latest board meeting and was reportedly the view made by higher-ups at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

End Game is not qualified to say whether it’s true, but observes that good employee relationships are based on mutual respect, and that many nurses already feel unloved by top brass without unfavourable comparisons being made.

Let’s just keep this one as End Game’s little secret and not tell the Royal College of Nursing.
