Readers who work in a clinically-focused setting will be familiar with the Bristol Stool Chart – a table which helps doctors and nurses understand digestive health by setting out seven distinct categories of human faeces.

Sometimes a pictorial version can be seen on wards or in staff rooms.

Well, presumably concerned that existing illustrations were not appetising enough, one innovative team has made it into a cake.

This picture of the brilliantly named “Bristol Stool Tart” was uploaded to Facebook by something called The Medical Consultant. Apparently was produced by clinicians at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. What’s more, it was “a team effort” by a group of clinicians “who each did a different stool!”

Splendid. Special End Game props go to whoever produced numbers seven and four - assuming they really did fashion them out of actual foodstuffs.
