FINANCE: Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is reporting a deficit of £2.4m for June 2012.
However, the trust said this was in line with the planned deficit in its 2012-13 financial plan, which was submitted to the strategic health authority in March.
The finance report to the July board meeting said the trust had “reached a series of agreements with commissioners for 2012-13 augmented on the principle of sharing risk based on a capped level of income and delivery of local health economy activity plans”.
However, it added: “An improvement in operational financial performance is required to ensure that the trust can deliver the planned surplus of £2.9m for 2012-13.”
