PERFORMANCE: Buckinghamshire Healthcare may struggle to reach quality and innovation targets set by its primary care trust.

NHS Buckinghamshire’s finance and performance report for February noted that the trust could fail to meet its Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) targets, to which some of the providers contract is attached.

It said a target on pressure ulcers was “particularly challenging” but “work is ongoing to try and benchmark performance against similar trusts. BHT has a work plan in place to reduce incidence.”

the report said progress had been made on the nationally mandated Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) target, ”but 90 per cent remains a challenging target for quarter four”.

It also said an action plan is being developed to implement enhanced recovery from hip operations, another target. While on other targets the PCT said it had not recieved data.
