FINANCE: Buckinghamshire’s clinical commissioning groups have reported an overspend on planned care of £1.3m in the year to date.

The main pressure areas were with outpatients at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust and an increase in high cost elective admissions at Oxford University Hospitals.

Unscheduled care was also over plan by £834,000. The main areas of overspend in the Buckinghamshire Healthcare contract were accident and emergency, and emergency admissions.

However overall, the CCGs only overspent by £253,000, due to underspends on prescribing costs and running costs.

Quality, innovation, productivity and prevention schemes in the earlier part of the year were not expected to deliver until the second half of the year.

The PCT cluster sill assumes it can achieve its target £1.7m surplus.
