STRUCTURE: The commissioning support service being set up in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire could merge with neighbouring bodies after its first assessment by NHS South of England.
January board papers say a review meeting was held with the strategic health authority cluster on January 12.
The papers say: “Early feedback indicates that, whilst good progress is being made, anumber of strategic issues must be resolved to ensure that CSS development continues to progress in accordance with the required timescales.
“In summary the strategic issues include: CSS geographical ‘footprint’ and the nature of the strategic partnership with neighbouring counties.”
HSJ also understands that the CSS could merge with Gloucestershire’s, potentially forming the first NHS CSS crossing SHA boundaries.
Other issues to be resolved included: “CSS leadership and giving CSS an organisational ‘identity’; CSS organisational form and development of organisational culture (commercially viable and customer responsive).”
