FINANCE: Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust has recorded a year end deficit for 2013-14 of £8.4m, £1.8 better than its previously anticipated deficit of £10.2m.

According to papers discussed at the trust’s May board meeting, the trust would have been £4.7m in surplus against a planned £4.0m year end surplus if it were not accounting for eHospital, its new IT system.

The trust has also been selected for the final stage of a £800m older people’s services contract for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, with a final submission due on 28 July.
