WORKFORCE: Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust has appointed Andy Richards as a non-executive director.

His appointment was approved by the trust’s board earlier this month.

Dr Richards currently chairs several organisations, including Ixico, Altacor, Novacta Abcodia and Cambridge Temperature Concepts.

He is also a director of the companies Arecor, Psychology On-line, Cancer Research Technology and Babraham Bioscience Technology.

He has founded and invested in more than 20 Cambridge-based healthcare companies in the past 14 years.

Trust chair Jane Ramsey said she wa “delighted Andy is joining the board”.

“His experience in business and bio-technology, coupled with his well-established links within Cambridge, will be a significant support to the trust in realising its ambition as a global healthcare leader.”

Dr Richards said: “Cambridge University Hospitals is truly important to the patients and people of Cambridge and is a central component of both the local economy and the world-class life-science cluster in our region.”

“I look forward to helping that team with whatever contributions I can make in delivering better healthcare through our NHS,” he added.
