PERFORMANCE: Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust is failing two key standards - the four hour wait in A&E and the 18 week referral-to-treatment standard.

A report to the council of governors showed that in the first two months of the financial year under 92 patients were being seen within four hours.

It is unlikely that the 95 per cent standard will be achieved for the first quarter and the report warns that Monitor could rate the trust as red on governance if it fails to meet the standard in any of the three remaining quarters in the financial year.

The 18 week standard was also missed with only 86 per cent of patients seen within this time and waits in orthopaedics of up to 33 weeks. Over 30 patients a week are affected by delayed transfers of care - putting pressure on beds within the trust.
