STRUCTURE: Cambridgeshire Community Services Trust wants to move back its groundbreaking application for foundation trust status - but is meeting opposition from the Department of Health.

The trust wants to go to Monitor in September this year - later than originally planned - because of a number of factors, including the time taken to transfer PCT assets, new staff being absorbed from the Peterborough area and changes at board level. It is supported in this by the SHA and also the consultants carrying out due diligence.

But chair Heather Peck told the December board meeting the Department was being ‘rigid’ and would prefer the trust followed the original timetable, even if that meant it potentially failed. When this had been raised with the Department, there had been a ‘scintilla of sympathy…but no hard commitment.’
