WORKFORCE: The foundation spent £150,000 on a “special severance payment” to a departing employee, figures published today show.

The pay-out was the second highest made to any single employee by a foundation trust in 2010-11, according to data released by the Public Accounts Committee.

Special severance payments are made to employees, particularly senior managers, on leaving employment, which are above their contractual entitlements. They must be approved by the Treasury.
