FINANCE: Wirral primary care trust has set aside £2.45m to cover the future costs of resolving backdated claims for Continuing Healthcare funding received in 2012-13, clinical commissioning group board papers state.

Wirral CCG’s latest finance report states: “A provision of £2.45m has been included in the PCT accounts for Continuing Healthcare Restitution cases in respect of the 816 claims received relating to the period 2004 -2012.”

PCTs received large numbers of claims for continuing care funding in the last financial year, after the government set a final deadline for the submission of backdated claims.
