WORKFORCE: Shane Gordon has been appointed chief operating officer of Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust.
He will leave his current role as clinical chief officer of North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group “within the next few weeks” to take on take on his new permanent, full time position, the trust announced today.
He succeeds Sandy Spencer, who has been serving in an interim capacity since December.
Dr Gordon is the trust’s fifth new appointment in recent weeks.
Barbara Stuttle became the trust’s substantive director of nursing and patient experience last month. Dawn Scrafield joined the trust as director of finance last week.
Angela Tillett is due to join the trust as medical director in March, while Alan Rose will become trust chair in April.
Trust chief executive Lucy Moore said: “Shane has an excellent and in-depth knowledge of this trust as well as the whole health and social care economy across north east Essex.
“I am confident this will be of huge benefit to us and, more importantly, to our patients.”
Dr Gordon said he was “very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities in working at the trust”.
“This brings the chance to continue building the partnerships with the rest of the health and care services locally, including general practice.
“I do leave a committed and hard working team at [the CCG] who I have had enormous pleasure working with.”
