A new month, a new season and a new dawn for health and social care inspection as super-regulator the Care Quality Commission came into being on 1 April. And among the million and one things it has to do, upping its internet profile should be on the list.
When you Google “CQC” the commission’s website www.cqc.org.uk is the top entry, but it is closely followed by the Wikipedia entry for close quarters combat (“a type of fighting in which small units engage the enemy with personal weapons at very short range”) and the website of a Wild West shoot ‘em up game.
Any remarks on how this coincidence may reflect on the regulator’s relationship with foundation trust regulator Monitor or the Department of Health would of course be completely inappropriate.
