Poor Alan Johnson. No doubt obliged to rise at dawn – all the better for spending more time with his red boxes – he probably hardly gets the chance to grab a cup of coffee in the morning.
And then when he does have a chance to tuck into something tasty he gets snapped by the paparazzi. See below for a picture of Mr Johnson taking advantage of tasty looking croissants and panini at the recent launch of the Department of Health’s commission on the future of nursing.
The snap was seized on by the Evening Standard as showing the hypocritical actions of a minister whose department advises “low sugar cereals or toast” for breakfast.
But surely everything in moderation is fine, is it not? We are sure Mr Johnson was back on the muesli the next day. And eating something has to be healthier than having nothing, which is what the prime minister appeared to opt for.
