WORKFORCE: Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust is reporting an overspend on nursing staff due to agency staff costs.
The trusts finance report said that its mental health inpatient wards are overspent by £935,000 on nursing staff costs for the period April to December 2010.
The report said: “Agency expenditure levels are expected to reduce as the trust drives to recruit more substantive nursing staff and agency authorisation controls are increased.”
Overall, the trust is in surplus by £2,993,000. The report said: “This surplus relates to underspendings within operational services, over recovery on the income plan of £658,000 which is offset by overspending on estates and support services. Capital charges are under spent by £542,000.”
