PERFORMANCE: Half the dental facilities run by Cumbria Partnership Foundation Trust do not meet the requirements for dental decontamination, the board has been warned.

A report to the May board meeting on infection control said that interim measures were in place to ensure effective decontamination while not affecting how clinics are run.

But from July clinics which don’t meet the required standards will see their equipment provided directly from a central source, through a procurement exercise.

The board was also told that significant investment would be needed to ensure that some other properties which had previously been run by the local PCT were not at risk of failing to comply with the hygiene code.
