PERFORMANCE: Delayed transfer of care continues to be a concern for the NHS Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole cluster despite improvements.

A report to the cluster board said social service delays have “reduced notably across Bournemouth Borough Council and more recently Poole Local Authority, but more challenging levels remain across Dorset County Council areas”.

It states non-acute delays are causing increasing concern, with the most recent figures showing 71 of the 108 delays at the week ending 14 August were from community hospitals.

However, the report reveals the number of lost bed days continues to be high despite progress.

It continues: “A high number of delays can be seen in Dorset Community hospitals which primarily are Dorset County Council delays, the majority of delays are patients who have been delayed in excess of 30 days.”
