WORKFORCE: East and North Herts Trust is looking at changing the make up of its workforce to reduce the number of redundancies it may have to make when service changes are completed in 2014.

This could lead to four out of five staff being on permanent contracts rather than nearly 92 per cent as now, a board meeting was told. Posts may also no longer be specific to one of the trust’s sites.

A review which is currently underway could lead to greater use of bank staff and potentially NHS Professionals as an internal agency.

This could be a more cost effective approach as it would reduce the use of external agency staff.
