STRUCTURE:A business case to expand the maternity unit at Barnet Hospital will be presented to the next meeting of Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals Trust.
The troubled London trust anticipates seeing an extra 750 mothers a year once the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Hertfordshire loses its obstetrics unit in October.
BCF expects roughly half of mothers to go to Barnet and the other half to Chase Farm hospital.
Planners at the London trust anticipate start-up costs resulting in a loss of £70,000 in-year, turning to a profit of £46,000 the year after.
BCF anticipates the unit will generate a £512k surplus each year thereafter.
