FINANCE: The primary care trust NHS East Lancashire has increased by £10m the sum it will “lodge” with strategic health authority NHS North West on the basis that it will be returned in 2012-13.
“The majority of this [lodged funding] relates to 2 per cent non-recurrent funding to address a range of estate issues that will help to facilitate better and alternative forms of service provision,” its PCT cluster’s latest finance report states.
The PCT is reporting a year to date surplus of £2.2m and it expects to achieve its planned surplus of £3.3m for 2011-12.
The report added: “A number of provider contracts are both over and under performing and whilst this can be managed within the PCT’s overall revenue resource limit for 2011-12, it may be cause for concern looking forward into 2012-13.”
