The joint chief executive of NHS Coventry is leaving his current job share to lead a government cost-cutting drive.
Mike Attwood will take on the role of programme director for the Total Place programme across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.
Total Place is a government programme formed to deliver “better services at less cost” across the public sector. Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire is one of 13 of the programme’s pilot sites across the UK. The Leadership Centre for Local Government is leading the project and supporting the pilots on behalf of the Local Government Association Group.
“Local people expect us all to work together to make services easier and more personal to use,” Mr Attwood said.
“The impact of the economic downturn means all of the public sector needs to find new and more efficient ways to serve the public.
“Doing this job as an experienced chief executive gives everyone a clear signal about just how serious we are about breaking down barriers and making a difference.”
Stephen Jones, the serving joint chief executive, has been asked to take up the reins for NHS Coventry full-time from 30 November.
