STRUCTURE: George Eliot Hospital Trust has had to delay a planned outpatient redevelopment due to financial constraints.
Minutes from January’s board meeting show that the decision to delay the scheme had been discussed “due to the down turn in the trust’s financial position and the need to conserve cash”.
But one non executive director commented that “the decision to withhold this scheme had not come back to board”.
He was told the trust had received an additional allocation that enabled a shortlist of urgent schemes to be drawn up, which included outpatients. This shortlist of priorities was to be formally agreed before proceeding.
