PERFORMANCE: Reported death rates at George Eliot Hospital have fallen after the “rebasing” of the Dr Foster mortality measure.

The trust’s hospital standardised mortality ratio fell by an average of 8.7 due to the recalculation. Its figure for June was 119.5, with an average for the first quarter of 2012-13 of 111.8 – both still significantly above the average national score of 100.

“It may take two or three years to achieve a position of consistently low reported mortality,” board papers said.
