FINANCE: Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust has approved plans for a £7.7m satellite radiotherapy unit to be built on the site of Hereford Hospital.
The new unit, due to open mid-2013, will provide thousands of radiotherapy treatment sessions a year for the majority of Herefordshire patients. All patients will still need to travel to the trust’s Cheltenham General Hospital for their initial treatment planning session. Hereford Hospital is now part of Wye Valley Trust integrated care organisation.
