WORKFORCE: Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust has begun a 90 day consultation with “back office staff” around plans to cut posts and save £1.3m.
The trust is hoping to consolidate some back office functions following its acquisiation of Wiltshire Community Health Services in June under the transforming community health services programme requiring primary caretrusts to divest their provider arms.
A reduction of around 33 whole time equivalent posts is anticipated.
A report to the trsut board states: “Over the summer months team managers and heads of services across many of the corporate functions have been looking at the current workforce and what the future needs are of the trust from their teams. This process has identified a number of roles where duplication now exists
since the merger and teams have developed business cases which are now out to consultation.”
Teams covered by the proposal include employee services, estates and facilities management, informatics/clinical coding and supplies and procurement.
The consultation runs until mid December.
