STRUCTURE: Great Yarmouth and Waveney primary care trust is to hand over the provision of community services in the area to a newly formed social enterprise.
Services previously carried out by the PCT’s provider arm will be transferred to East Coast Community Healthcare Community Interest Company from 1 October, providing community healthcare to 230,000 people. Over 750 staff will also be transferred.
The services transferring include community nursing, health visiting, and therapy, health improvement services and in-patient services at four community hospitals.
A statement from the PCT said: “The transfer was agreed following a meeting between the Community Services Board and PCT board, which involved NHS East of England. It was ratified by the East of England Provider Development Board earlier this month.”
