STRUCTURE: NHS Haringey has reported that a transfer of community services to a new provider will not be completed by 1 April.
The executive report laid to the trusts March 23 board meeting said there had been delays to the planned transfer of children’s services from the current provider, Great Ormond Street Hospital, to Whittington Health, an integrated care organisation based around the Whittington Hospital.
The board papers say: “The negotiations… regarding the transfer have tested all parties. Despite best efforts it will now be impossible to effect the transfer on 1st April.
“Good work has been done to assure the safety and security of the service going forward, and that is not considered problematic. A contingency plan has been put in place for a later transfer date than the 1st April.”
However the transfer of adult services from the primary care trust to Whittington Health are likely to meet the 1 April deadline.
The report noted that the negotiations had been “demanding, as has the work including due diligence to satisfy the strategic health authority regarding the transfer”.
The Whittington is also taking on children and adult services from Islington PCT.
