PERFORMANCE: NHS Haringey missed its target for getting smokers to quit for quarter one, achieving 300 against a target of 427.

A report to the board of the North Central London primary care trust cluster said: “Haringey and Enfield’s service is jointly commissioned through Innovision. A key issue across both boroughs is that many providers submit their activity after the Department of Health deadline which means that they are not counted.

“To address this, there are two members of the stop smoking team who visit the 122 practices across both boroughs each quarter to collect data while they drop off leaflets. Innovision is also exploring the option of moving from the current manual process to automated data collection.”

It added: To improve conversion rates in pharmacies, a level three specialist advisor is now allocated to 10 pharmacies with the poorest conversion rates to understand reasons and support improvement: this approach will extend to more pharmacies once work within the initial 10 is underway.”
