PERFORMANCE: Heatherwood and Wexham Park Foundation Trust missed its waiting time target in the trauma and orthopaedics and ear nose and throat specialties, primary care trust board papers show.

September papers said that, against the target for 90 per cent of patients to be treated within 18 weeks of referral, two specialties fell short at the trust.

Ear nose and throat performance was 87.9 per cent for the month.

The trust experienced some short term capacity issues over the summer and, the papers say, “has some underlying capacity issues in its outpatient pathway, extending waits in advance of the decision to treat surgically”.

The trust is “currently working up an action plan to address these issues”.

The papers also said: “There is a plan in place for trauma and orthopaedics with likely achievement of the target in January 2013.”
