PERFORMANCE: “Chronic capacity problems” are preventing Heatherwood and Wexham Park FT from meeting cancer waiting time targets, according to board papers.

A report from the trust’s chief operating officer said: “Chronic capacity problems within the urology department have made the consistent delivery of all cancer targets difficult to achieve.

“The national Intensive Support Team for Cancer waiting standards has undertaken a high-level review of our service with clear recommendations coming forward for implementation.”

The trust’s position for treating cancer patients less than 31 days after diagnosis was 82.61 per cent compared to a target of 94 per cent.
