PERFORMANCE: A nursery at Heatherwood and Wexham Park FT was closed temporarily after high levels of legionella were found in a water tank.
The trust’s performance report said: “Routine testing of cold water tanks at Forest Lodge Day Nursery on the Heatherwood site on 3 March 2011 detected a higher than normal count of the bacterium legionella.
“The nursery was immediately closed to minimise risk and arrangements were made to promptly deal with the issue
along recommended lines.”
The report said a an infection control meeting was held the next day and “the risk was deemed to be very small”.
The nursery was re-opened on 5 March. “Plans to mitigate against future risk by installing a chlorine dioxide pump are in place,” according to the trust.
