PERFORMANCE: More than a fifth of catheterised patients at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Foundation Trust had a urinary tract infection latest data shows.
The figure, for October stood at 20.2 per cent, is significantly worse than the national average of 13 per cent, and represented an increase on September’s 18.4 per cent figure.
A trust wide audit was planned for this month, to coincide with a local trust campaign on catheter care.
In addition, a workstream was planned to be set up to improve catheter practice and to develop a “catheter care bundle.”
The data was gathered for NHS Safety Thermometer.
Across all areas assessed by the tool, 91.9 per cent of the trust’s patients were “harm free”, against a commissioning for quality and innovation target of 95 per cent.
The trust hit that target in September.
