Acute trust chief executives remain resolutely pessimistic about the quality of primary care commissioning, according to the latest HSJ Barometer survey (see page 29).

Confidence in the national programme for IT also remains low.

The survey of 60 acute trust chief executives is carried out on a bimonthly basis. Respondents are asked to score their confidence on a scale of 1-10.

The quality of commissioning by primary care trusts was scored at an average of 3.94. This score has remained at just under four since the survey was first conducted in April.
