The Department of Health has won a Plain English Campaign award for a leaflet intended to cut overuse of antibiotics.

Antibiotics - don't wear me out was described as an 'effective tool at getting information across' and commended for its use of cartoon character Andy Biotic, a 'no nonsense antibiotic capsule'.

Other parts of the health service did less well. Pollards Hill Regeneration Partnership Board appointed 'part-time healthcare team foot health gain facilitators'.

And North Glasgow University Hospitals trust won a 'golden bull' for a patient leaflet that even its medical director admitted was, on the face of it, 'prime gobbledygook' .
