Six members of NHS staff received bravery awards from the Royal Humane Society last week.
On 16 September last year they evacuated 86 patients and restrained a knifewielding arsonist during a fire at the medical admissions unit of York Hospital.
The six were healthcare assistant Gemma Gurden; staff nurses Elle Barley, Andrea Shirt and Nichola Burdett; Dr Matthew Callister; and security officer David Henderston.
