A primary care trust has warned that it may have to close beds at its community hospitals to help clear a£6m deficit. Guildford and Waverley PCT has a three-year plan to reduce its projected spending by£10m. The PCT blamed increased demand and referrals for the deficit, which built up rapidly in the last part of the financial year. It is now in discussion with Surrey and Sussex strategic health authority and the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford about its savings plans.
