The Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection has opened consultation on reforms to the independent stage of the NHS complaints procedure.CHAI said its objectives in putting forward the proposals were: resolution for the individual complainant; improvement of services as a result of an analysis of complaints; and the use of this data to inform CHAI's overall assessment of the performance of NHS organisations.The operational proposals are designed to fit within the legal framework for complaints on which the Department of Health is currently out to consultation.
