The head of the Department of Health’s commercial directorate Channing Wheeler has resigned from his post.
Mr Wheeler’s resignation was confirmed on Friday, 23 May. In a statement the DH said he was resigning for “personal, family reasons” and would return to the US. He is due to leave his post in mid July.
Mr Wheeler has been in his post for less than a year. NHS chief executive David Nicholson said: “He has set a high standard, and we remain committed to having strong commercial expertise and presence in its leadership team. We are now going to review all our commercial capacity across the DH to identify how we can strengthen it, going forward.”
