Donna Covey, director of the Association of Community Health Councils for England and Wales, is to quit, leaving the threatened health watchdog to appoint a successor on a one-year contract.
Ms Covey will take up the post of chief executive at the National Asthma Campaign next month, after three years at ACHCEW. She has been at the forefront of the campaign to save CHCs, and ACHCEW chair Alan Hartley said: 'ACHCEW now has a higher profile than at any time in our history and the organisation and its work is widely respected by MPs, opinion formers and health professionals.
Much of the credit for that must go to Donna.'
