The first payments to reward dentists working in the General Dental Service 'for their commitment to the NHS' will be made this week. The scheme gives additional monies to dentists aged 35 and over who have worked at least five years in the last decade and received gross earnings of at least £25,000 in each of the respective years. The scheme followed was developed in response to a recommendation by the doctors' and dentist' review body. The payments, which will be backdated to April, range from £100 to £4,500.
