The Department of Health has agreed to give£600,000 to build and run a creche at University Hospitals of Leicester trust, as the result of coursework undertaken by Glenfield Hospital clinical risk manager Nikki Douglas as part of her management studies diploma.Ms Douglas prepared a 13,000word presentation highlighting the need and benefits of workplace childcare, which course administrators forwarded to Whitehall.The creche, due to open next March, will provide places for 50 children and the grant should cover running costs for the first three years.
