The Association of Community Health Councils for England and Wales, threatened with abolition in the NHS Reform Bill, has appointed a new director. Peter Walsh, chief officer of Croydon CHC for the last seven years, will take up the post on a one-year contract.Mr Walsh has a voluntary sector background, though he began his career in advertising and publishing before moving to the public sector. He has been a leading voice in the campaign against the scrapping of CHCs and is a member of the ACHCEW standing committee and the executive committee of London Health Link.
