I am writing in response to the article 'Tandem factor' (Features, 29 August), which concerned University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire trust. I wish to correct some inaccuracies and clarify some issues.

nIn September 2001, the trust would have been awarded two stars based on performance.

These were removed as a result of the report from the Commission for Health Improvement.

There was a regional representative on all the appointment panels for medical director at the trust.

The split site working has been a recognised problem in Coventry for 30 years and generations of clinical and managerial staff have been trying to solve it. At last, with the building of a£330m development, bringing together the two hospitals in Coventry, the solution has been found.

Your article 'Mediawatch' in the same week appeared disparaging about the Evening Standard using an anonymous source to describe conditions in Rampton Hospital.

It is ironic that the 'Tandem factor' article used only anonymous sources when describing the alleged relationship between then-chief executive David Loughton and medical directors.
